What is Chapuys doing here?
[edit]He was the ambassador from the Emperor to England, not the other way around! Or am I missing something? Bazuz (talk) 09:56, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
Agree - go ahead and delete it! Somej (talk) 00:42, 1 September 2021 (UTC)
I presume you reverted my edit before seeing the note I left on the talk page? (My bad, I should have referred to it in the edit comment). So on the basis of that and your later answer here, I am removing Chapuys again. Bazuz (talk) 11:28, 1 September 2021 (UTC)

given. Unless there is something significantly different in the nature of English and British ambassadors, both pages in Category:Lists of ambassadors to the Holy Roman Emperor should have been discussed in a single multi-page RM discussion. – wbm1058 (talk) 17:51, 4 March 2022 (UTC)
List of ambassadors of the Kingdom of England to the Holy Roman Emperor → List of ambassadors of the Kingdom of England to the Holy Roman Empire – Per Category:Lists of ambassadors to the Holy Roman Emperor. Ambassadors are not sent to a person but to a state. Laurel Lodged (talk) 21:35, 30 January 2022 (UTC) — Relisting. TheBirdsShedTears (talk) 09:11, 11 February 2022 (UTC)
- Support. Seems to follow the country/polity name format. Would make it WP:CONSISTENT with other lists, such as List of ambassadors of the Holy Roman Empire to England, List of ambassadors of the Kingdom of England to France, etc. Pilaz (talk) 06:02, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose Page includes the section "Envoys to the Holy Roman Emperor".
- But more importantly, what phrasing would the English have used in the 17th Century? The portait of Sir William Curtius labels him as ambassador ("Prolegatus") of the King ("Britannarium Rege") to "Germanus"; isn't that an ambassador of a King to an Emperor, rather than from a nation (England) to an Empire (Germany)? Grateful if anyone with better understanding of contemporary language could comment. Somej (talk) 03:34, 5 February 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose per arguments made at Talk:List of ambassadors of Great Britain to the Holy Roman Emperor. Rublov (talk) 14:11, 11 February 2022 (UTC)
